Right now, the first season of my fiction podcast THE STRANGE CHRONICLES is being released. It’s about a detective, Gray Cooper, and her partner Joe Nebraska, as they investigate supernatural crime.
The journey into audio has been a thrill. As an avid listener to public radio and podcasts, the idea of doing my own show was sort of a faint whisper, but like most creative endeavors it remained on the wishlist while life happened.
This past year I figured out the idea for a show. Truthfully, I just thought about my favorite kinds of shows and mashed them together. I was watching HBO’s new Perry Mason, and thought about how much I love a detective show, and then one of my all time favorite shows is the X-Files, I mixed those with the few fiction pod’s I’d listened to and out came The Strange Chronicles.
My hope was to make something that sounded like true-crime, but had a supernatural bend. I kept the episodes short (15 minutes for most) and the cast small (just me). The goal was to make a show that would actually get made.
And it did. The first couple episodes of season one are out, and hey, it seems that people are enjoying it. We will release one episode a week, until year’s end. And if it finds an audience, we’ll make another season. If not, we have a season of a show we are proud of and enjoyed making.
If you do enjoy the characters, here’s some good news - THE STRANGE CHRONICLES is also going to be a book series.
Because I can’t seem to stop writing all the things.
If you made it this far, thank you for reading. Please look for THE STRANGE CHRONICLES wherever you listen to podcasts (Apple, Spotify, etc), and let me know what you think.
